After Boynton Beach

When we left Barbara and Bob's we were headed down the coast and towards the Everglades.  Drove thru Boca along the coast, I have never seen so many "beautiful" people in spandex at one time in my whole life!  The homes were incredible!  The traffic was horrible and we sat and puttzed along only to find out there was a parade and our route was closed.

Got back on track, by the time we got to Alligator Alley Marty was asleep and I just drove over to Naples (more beautiful people).  We went to a flea market and decided to head north towards Spring Hill, where we visited with our lifelong friends.  Had a nice dinner with Richard and Ann.  Richards friends Greg and Girlie joined us.
When we returned to Richards we hung out outside for a while.  I just miss being outside and it has just been too hot during the day.  Word of warning:  little red ants and chew your feet up at an incredible pace and the pain, itch and burn isn't pleasant!  I didn't think I would ever get to sleep!  But I did for about and hour and a half.
We had breakfast with Richards parents this morning.  It was so good to see them again.

Now that visiting was done, we did a touristy thing.  We went to Homasassa Spring Wildlife Refuge.  Marty and I took the boys there in 1986.  Things have changed sinced then. The only animals there now are native to Florida.  As I remember (and old pictures confirm), the flamingos and other birds were free to roam among the visitors, now they are behind fences.  They also relocated the little monkeys that used to steal treats from people.  It was still a lot of fun though.  I got some beautiful pictures.

We have bedded down for the night just north of Jacksonville (I think).  We are heading towards home, but hoping to do some more little side trips along the way.  I miss Abel, but Marty, Candace and the girls are taking good care of him.

When we get home I'm looking forward to getting ready for Jobey's baby shower for Kambron Reed Kramer!!

Enjoy the pictures and please leave me a comment.  When I talk to you, you tell me that you are reading this but I have no proof.

We'll check back soon.  Good Night

Friday

Had a great day so far.  Went to the casino with Bob, just like we planned.  I gave myself a budget of $60.00 and cashed out at $215.15!!  I am so happy, I never come out ahead of the game.

Had to get in touch with my doctor today though.  Seems I might be starting to flare a little, so she phone me in a prescription and hopefully things will improve.  Nothing major though.  Just enough to remind me that I'm not normal!  I'm not going to let lupus get in the way of my fun!

All the Aunts and Uncles will be by in a little bit for desert.  So much for my diet tonight.  Last night was a bust too because Barbara and Bob's friend has a chocolate store and brought Marty some chocolate covered oreos and I got some chocolate covered cherries!  I hope to stop by his shop on our way out of town tomorrow and pick up some treats for my mother.  (I hope they last until we see her again)

Weather permitting we plan on spending a couple of days in the everglades.  I want to ride an airboat!  Hoping also to hook up with our friend Bru is in the everglades working.

Then we're off to visit Richard, his kids and parents in Spring Hill FL.  That is the plan as of now, but it is all subject to change if we get a wild hair!

I haven't been using my laptop, but I hope to get some pictures posted soon.

Check back soon!

With Family

We arrived at Barbara and Bob's yesterday early  afternoon and didn't sit still for long.  We hit the mall.  It is so nice to have such shopping choices!  I was able to find some really cute outfits.  When we got back we spoke with Aunt Babe and went to visit her.  What a sweetheart.  She gave me a beautiful china place setting and creamer and sugar bowl.  I love them especially the history behind them.  When we get home I'm looking forward to displaying them.
When we got back I noticed that the store didn't put all of my purchases in the bag.  I was so disappointed because I couldn't wear the cami's without the sweaters.  But I wasn't charged for the sweaters so not such a big deal.
Had a wonderful dinner, watched tv and off to bed!

Thursday

I can't believe how stinking hot it is!!  I can't stop sweating!  Took my time getting ready took a nice cool shower!  Played with Buddy for awhile until I tripped and busted myself on her beautiful tile floor.  The momentum kept me sliding, but the when my head hit the frame of the sliding glass door I immediately stopped!  I thought I broke my arm, but thank goodness it's ok.  That would have been bad because Bob and I have a date at the casino tomorrow and it is my "slot" arm.

Got to head back to the mall and purchase my sweaters.  Good thing they didn't ring up yesterday because they are on sale!!

Looks like nap time, then ribs for dinner with Aunt Babe!
I don't have any pictures until I get back on my computer.
Will update either later tonight or tomorrow.

***Please leave me a comment because if I wanted to talk to myself I would talk to Marty!

Made it to Florida

Pretty uneventful day today.  Our plans to see Savannah didn't pan out due to the rain.
If you are ever driving and see a GPS on the side of the road, don't stop!  It is a piece of sh*t.
Had a nice breakfast at Crackle Barrel, had the "healthy" which means no cheesy potatoes.  It was still good none the less.  We had the pleasure of breaking in a new waiter.  Missed the cups by just a little and dribbled the coffee on the table, no biggy.  But, when Marty got a refill and asked for cream, the waiter must have thought he was at his last job, the circus as a juggler (I'm sure he was fired), because the creamers went up in the air and came right down in his coffee with a big splash, all over the table, in his eggs and even in his eyes!!

Got checked into a hotel.  Picked a good time to come here.  We are right on the ocean.  This place is an old "motor lodge" probably from the 40's or 50's.  The innkeeper is Chuck, he is very very friendly, for awhile I thought he was going to follow us right into the room talking.  I'd like to spend some time outside, but everytime we go out he appears!  Went to Ruby to organize things and poof there he is.  I know more about Chuck now than I do Marty!  He is 55, from Jersey, been here 15 years, married a young "girl" and has a new 8 month old daughter.  Oh and he doesn't like Obama either.  But he did suggest a nice place for dinner.  It felt good to walk and the food was really good.

Not much else happening except I miss my dog.  I hope Marty is taking good care of him!

Looking forward to spending some time with Barbara and Bob tomorrow.  I'm hoping Bob will take me to the casino while Marty and Barbara shop!

Good Night and Happy Valentines Day!

Savannah Georgia

Woke up this morning and my coffee and a banana were waiting on my nightstand for me!  Marty was already at the carwash, he can't stand for Ruby to be dirty!
Carolyn & Me
So relaxing, took my time getting ready and we met Candace's mother Carolyn for breakfast at Showmar's.   Carolyn is such a nice person, she brought me a journal for me to use during our travels.  It is really helpful because sometimes at the end of the day when I am posting I forget some of the really important stuff.

After breakfast we headed south.  As we crossed the state line into South Carolina we noticed the price of gas $3.35 and just one block north in North Carolina $3.67.  Guess where we filled up? Yep, we filled up in North Carolina as we left Monroe!

Marty almost got his first ticket in South Carolina (other states already under his belt).  Don't you just hate it when the light turns yellow and you are in that "should I stop" or "should I go" mentality?  Well he went and there was a trooper right behind us!  He noticed the our tags and guess he figured he would spread some southern hospitality.  The best part is that we were on the phone with the office and hung up quite abruptly and left Candace hanging as to whether we were going to need bail money or not.  Decided to not call back for awhile and let her wonder.

Made it to Savannah and found a place to stay.  As usual we found an interesting place to stay.  We seem to find places with so many options, i.e., you can rent the room by the hour, but if you need to stay longer they also have low weekly rates!!  What a find!  Upon checkin I got to go into a 4x4 foyer and talk to the clerk thru glass about 6 inches thick!  When I inquired, she informed me that the neighborhood was safe.  Boy was I relieved!  For you enjoyment I posted some pictures.  Note the key, it is a key!  We even have a mirrored headboard! And the sheets are fresh from the package, still have the fold creases.  Oh and I almost forgot the 1/4 ply toilet paper!!  But enough, I know everybody hates a braggart!

After putting our stuff in our room we had to find a Walmart to get some more medicine, seems my nasty coughy, runny nose, sneezy yuk is back. I look like Rudolph with my red nose.   Then found a good bbq restaurant, yummy!

Going to spend the day tomorrow checking out Savannah.  After two days of driving we are both ready for some exercise.

Thanks for visiting, check back often and please leave a comment!
Enjoy the photos!

Monroe, NC

We left this morning and had a very nice travel day (sunny anyway).  It was so cold and windy I'm glad to be heading south.  Single digit cold!

Had a few mishaps with the GPS but that is to be expected.  It took us straight to a road that had a sign that was a warning the road wasn't GPS compatable.  Lots of "recalculating"

We really like traveling without an itinerary, it seems like we miss so many things if we have an ETA.

Settling in for the night.  Looking forward to meeting Candace's mother in the morning for breakfast.

Should be a better update tomorrow night

Packing and getting ready!!

As usual we have waited until the last minute to get things together.  Some things never change.
So glad to be finally able to rest and relax.
Hoping Abel will stay healthy this time and we won't have to cut our trip short!
Thanks to Marty, Candace and the girls for taking Abel in while we are gone.  I know Bugsy likes having the company.

I will check back in once we actually hit the road!
