Mammouth Cave, KY

I just entered all of this in, but it isn't here anymore.

We did one of the cave tours today, one of the easier ones because of my foot. It was still fun though. I don't know what my fascination is with caves/caverns because I am not particularly fond of bats and cave crickets, but it is really very interesting to me.

We didn't get so see up real close, but they were doing a control burn in the park here.

We are going to leave this area a day early. Going to head west and see what we can get into.

I'm having trouble with the internet connection here so I'll have to post the pictures tomorrow.

Good Night

Settled in for the night in Horse Cave KY. Today was a travel day. We took the long way as usual.

I messed up our reservation and we ended up in a camping cabin instead of a parking space w/electric. Oh darn! Neither of us mind though.

Busy day tomorrow, we want to visit a couple of caves and a wildlife preserve. I'll share those pictures. Today we just took pictures of stupid things.

Going to send the girls a postcard and call it a day.

Pretty foggy and gloomy when we left this morning. Almost spooky.

Well, it's the end of day one. I can't believe we will be living in the van for the next almost two months! It seemed a lot bigger yesterday.

Anyway it rained all day, so we stopped at the casino. I played the slots and came out $17.50 ahead. Marty is so generous that he took me out to celebrate and told me I could get anything I wanted from the $1.00 menu, what a sport.

We noted our beginning mileage and thought it would be fun if you could guess our ending mileage. There will of course be a very special prize for the winner.

Well, we should probably get some sleep now that rush hour is over. Did I mention we are camping in a campground right off the highway?

We're off to Mammouth Cave in the morning.

We have the nicest friends. They showed up at our door with their hands full of food and bubbly to make sure we got a proper send off. Even Abels friend Pearl was there.

We also got gifts for the road (sorry Marcie the cookies are already gone!). They were yummy good!

I am so excited

I can't believe I figured out how to set this up.

Where to start? It's 5:00 Saturday morning and we are waiting for the sun to come up to start prepping the van for our trip. From now on the van will affectionately be know as "Ruby".

This whole blogging thing is new to me, so please be patient as I will be learning as I post.
